There is a frightening trend in our country
today. One that is bent on overstepping its bounds and proclaiming certain
lifestyle choices of its citizen the business of the government. This
development is greatly due to the fact that the line between church and state,
or shall I say the line between who funds campaigns and who actually runs the
country is becoming increasingly blurred. This grotesque display of personal
agendas being forced upon the whole is seen in the crusade to keep gay
individuals living their lives united, in forcing women to have children they
may not have the ability to care for, and in making criminals out of the
millions of Americans who would like to have the freedom to do what they wish
with their own personal money.
The last of these situations is the one I am
going to speak the most about for now, and that is, online gambling. An industry
that is thriving out side of the countries borders, but is being sustained by a
majority of US dollars, as the government dragged its heels and sat on the fence
about the issue. Now the same forces pushing to remove those other civil
liberties, are pushing to ban an industry that is primarily in existence because
of support given by American citizens.
Online gambling has been confirmed as a highly
profitable industry, which you would think would intrigue those
money-hungry-hypocritical-moralists, and greatly so because of the huge number
of Americans that are participating already. This is the reason why it would
seem the most beneficial for the United State to regulate and intern capitalize
of the demand that is already making its voice be heard twelve billion dollars
loud. But time is off the essence, “As more and more countries move toward
regulation … the United States could be the last to cross the finish line,
losing out on the economic benefits of this industry."
