Online gambling has been receiving a mixed bag of both negative and positive
attention as the situation continues to heat up in the United States government.
But even as some make move to remove the online gambling industry activity from
the state the countries largest and most successful casino companies like
Harrah's Entertainment Inc. and MGM Mirage are all vying to legalize and
regulate the online gambling industry in order to utilize its bountiful business
opportunities.
With scandals involving casinos and shady lottery dealings with Jack Abramoff
there has been a sharp reversal in the opinion of the gambling industry be
members of parties who have received over $900,000 in campaign donations via the
gambling establishments. Many politicians are now trying to distance them selves
from their inherent connection with gambling money
Some representatives are able to see the benefit from not freaking out and
actually regulating the industry that is already highly active within our
borders, "The argument the industry is making is, if it is being done offshore,
why not bring it in to the U.S. so it can be regulated? It doesn't look like you
can ban it.'' Online gambling is almost inevitable and also the perfect
opportunity to bring in taxes to decrease national debt and work on state funded
programs. Granted the decision makers who would decide where the money would go
would have to be trustworthy... oh, well...maybe in 2008.
